Stress Lab
Care is rendered to both inpatients and outpatients. The Stress Lab nurses monitor nuclear and non-nuclear and pharmacologic stress tests with the oversight of a cardiologist. The nurses have critical care experience and ACLS.
Endoscopy Unit
Care is rendered to both inpatients and outpatients. The “Endoscopy Team” use and adapt theories in microbiology, communication, ethics, and behavioral sciences to form the basis of practice. That practice is influenced by the patients’ physiological alteration, patient’s needs (as well as the family’s needs) for support and assistance, collaboration between medicine and nursing and the level of professional autonomy in the practice setting. Diagnostic and therapeutic interventions performed in the Endoscopy Unit include: EGD, Colonoscopy, Enteroscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, EUS, DBE, ERCP, Barrx, Cryo, PDT, Spiros and Endoscopic Laser therapies.
Cardiac Cath
The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory has 3 suites and a 4-bay holding area. The EP Lab has 2 suites and a 3-bay holding area. Our patient population consists of adults undergoing procedures to diagnose and/or treat coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and tamponade. The Cath Lab performed approximately 2,538 procedures in 2008. The EP Lab performed 956 procedures in 2008.
Blood Donor Center
The mission of the Blood Donor Center is to provide a range of state-of-the-art apheresis services and safe collection of blood products for TJUH patients. Our services include: whole blood collection and processing, therapeutic phlebotomy, and donor/therapeutic apheresis procedures such as plasma exchange, red cell exchange, stem cell collection and leukoreduction. We collect approximately 2,500 units of whole blood annually from volunteers and autologous donors.
Interventional Radiology Unit (IR)
Interventional Radiology (IR) consists of 4 procedure rooms, a 6-bed recovery area and an outpatient clinic. Our nurses provide moderate sedation for many of the 4,000 cases IR performs each year including angiography, vascular access and drainage of fluid collections. We have a large volume of oncology patients who receive Chemoembolizations, Immunoembolizations, Cryoablations, and Radioactive Microsphere embolizations to treat inoperable liver tumors. For Women’s Health, we perform Uterine Artery Embolization to treat uterine fibroids. EVLT procedures use laser therapy to eliminate varicose veins.
